The latest stage of MidCoast Council's sewer investigations will begin in Forster on Tuesday 8 October and will continue until the end of April 2025.
The annual maintenance program began in September and work has already successfully wrapped up in Hawks Nest and Taree West.
Closed circuit television cameras will be used to inspect the sewer network for defects in some of Forster's largest sewer catchments. The sewer will also be cleaned during this time.
Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott, said the work helped ensure the sewer network continued to operate as it should.
"Most people don't ever really think about sewage unless there's a problem with it," said Mr Scott.
"This work – which largely goes unnoticed – ensures our pipes remain in good working condition and the sewage stays safely underground as it moves from people's homes to the sewage treatment plant."
All residents in the areas affected by the work have been notified.
People are encouraged to keep their toilet lids down and toilet doors closed while the work is happening. This will stop backflows of air coming up through the toilet while the sewer is being cleaned.
You can continue to use your toilets as normal while the investigations and cleaning are underway.
