Sewer investigations will begin in Taree West on Monday 9 September and continue in the area until the end of November 2024.
Contractors working for MidCoast Council will use closed circuit television cameras to inspect the sewer network for defects. They will also take the opportunity to clean the sewer during this time.
The investigations will occur in the following streets:
- Edinburgh Drive
- Illingari Circuit
- McLeod Close
- Tristania Crescent
- Grevillea Close
- Burri Street
- Stirling Place
The work is scheduled to take place between 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott, said the inspections are regularly carried out across the region as part of Council's annual maintenance program.
"While these investigations go largely unnoticed, they're actually a really important part of our yearly work schedule because they help ensure our sewer system continues to operate effectively," he said.
"The good news for residents is the work has very little impact on them while it's underway, because our contractors don't need to access their properties or disrupt services."
Residents are encouraged to keep their toilet lids down and toilet doors closed while the work is happening. This will stop backflows of air coming up through the toilet while the sewer is being cleaned.
People can continue to use their toilets as normal while the investigations and cleaning are underway.
