Ballina Shire Council is carrying out important maintenance to the shire's sewerage reticulation network over the coming weeks.
Our wastewater team will be applying protective coating to concrete wet wells at three sewerage pump stations. Sewage is collected within concrete wet wells until it is pumped out through a pressurised pipe system. These assets require coatings and linings to control the impacts of corrosion.
Works will be carried out to the following pump stations:
- Corner of Grant Street and Biala Place, Ballina (week of 10 May)
- Corner of Richmond Street and Wilsons Street, Wardell (week of 18 May)
- Corner of Bath Street and Bridge Street, Wardell (week of 24 May)
Our crew will need to operate a large pump to bypass wastewater around the works, which may generate some noise.
The works at each pump station will take approximately one week to complete (weather permitting) and construction will occur between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday. These constructions times aim to limit the impact on surrounding residents by completing the works as quickly as possible.
Other than the potential for some noise from the bypass pump, the works are expected to have minimal impact on residents. There will be no impact to traffic conditions and access to properties will be maintained at all times.
Council thanks the community for their patience during these essential works.
