Drop into an upcoming in-person consultation session or complete our surveys online and help guide us on how we plan, deliver and manage the City's outdoor public spaces.
We're committed to providing an outdoor public space network that meets community needs, and is sustainable, enjoyable, accessible, vibrant, and safe for residents and visitors.
Greater Geelong is facing population growth and climate change challenges set to impact these spaces, so we're preparing two strategies:
Public Realm Strategy
Public Realm is the public space around buildings such as streets, laneways, roads and public plazas.
Open Space Strategy
Open space is public land used by the community for outdoor recreation and enjoyment, including parks, gardens, reserves, waterways, wetlands, and linear trails.
We want to hear about how you currently use these spaces and your priorities for the future.
Our online surveys for each strategy are live until Monday 12 May.
If you prefer to give feedback face to face, we have drop-in engagement sessions at our Wurriki Nyal civic precinct on 30 April, Boronggook Drysdale Library on 7 May and Norlane ARC on 8 May.
Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
Engaging with the community is an essential part of the City creating these strategies.Greater Geelong has many beautiful and inviting gardens, wetlands, laneways and shopping strips, but there's more we can do to ensure these spaces continue thriving, while improving the attractiveness and atmosphere of others.
We need to hear from you about what would make our outdoor public space network more welcoming, liveable, fit for purpose and sustainable now and into the future.
