Tamworth Regional Council is undertaking community consultation to shape the future of lifelong learning across the region.

Council would like to talk with community members from all walks of life to identify and look at ways of overcoming barriers to education, skills development, and knowledge access, ensuring that the local libraries remain vital hubs for learning for all ages and backgrounds.

The consultation includes a variety of engagement opportunities to ensure that all community members have a chance to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences. The input gathered will directly inform the development of two new documents, The Tamworth Learning Region Plan and Tamworth Region Library Strategy, which will help guide future services, programs, and resources within local libraries.

Key consultation opportunities include:

  • Community Workshops:
    • Barraba Library: Friday 21 March, 10am – 12pm
    • Manilla Library: Friday 21 March, 2pm – 4pm
    • Nundle Library: Saturday 22 March, 10am – 12pm
    • Kootingal Library: Saturday 22 March, 2pm – 4pm
    • The Lands Building, Tamworth: Monday 24 March, 1pm – 3pm
    • Tamworth City Library: Tuesday 25 March, 6pm – 8pm
  • Online Survey: An online survey will be available for residents to complete here -https://haveyoursay.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/lifelonglearning
  • Printed Survey: For those who prefer a paper-based option, printed copies of the survey will be available at each of the region's libraries.

Tamworth Regional Council Manager Learning Communities, Kay Delahunt, said It was important to listen to the voices of the community to identify any barriers and to anticipate future needs.

"We believe that learning is integral to living a fulfilled life, and we want to shape a future that allows everyone the opportunity to access the learning and social opportunities they need to thrive," she said.

The consultation period is open from Monday 17 March until Tuesday 1 April, 2025 at 5pm.
