The Tasmanian Government has today opened public consultation for Our Mountain's Future - a holistic review of kunanyi/Mount Wellington and the broader Wellington Park.
Minister for Business, Industry and Resources, Eric Abetz, invited Tasmanians to share their vision for the future of Wellington Park in the first phase of the review.
"The discussion paper will help guide the conversation so that we can gain a full understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with our mountain. The paper invites Tasmanians to consider three main themes: values management, user experience, and administration," said Minister Abetz.
"We want to hear from as many Tasmanians as possible to inform future recommendations and decisions and make sure that we get it right. It is easy to have your say through the online survey, or you can make a written submission in response to the discussion paper.
"It's clear that the land management, transport options, visitor infrastructure and cultural experiences are not up to standard for such an important natural asset.
"Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we recognise the importance of our natural visitor economy, and the mountain is a critical part of this.
"The consultation phase will be used to inform a shared community vision for Our Mountain's Future.
The consultation period is open until 4th December. The survey only takes 15 minutes to complete, and Tasmanians are encouraged to have their say. The discussion paper and survey as well as more information are available at: www.mountainreview.tas.gov.au
