Sheep Killed In Truck Fire Near Nyngan

Two hundred sheep have been killed in a truck fire in the state's west.

About 12.50am today (Saturday 7 September 2024), emergency services were called to Mitchell Highway, Girilambone, north of Nyngan, following reports of a truck fire.

Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and found a road train well alight.

NSW Fire & Rescue worked to extinguish the blaze.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was uninjured.

On board the truck were 200 sheep – who perished in the blaze.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the fire ongoing.
