Shekerinska Opens Transatlantic Policy Conference

NATO

NATO's Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Shekerinska, opened the eighth Transatlantic Policy Planners' Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Wednesday 15 January 2025. The Deputy Secretary General stressed the importance of policy planning in a world of strategic competition, pervasive instability, and recurrent shocks. Policy planning is essential, she said, "to anticipate emerging trends, challenge prevailing policy assumptions, and craft new strategies to tackle existing challenges and leverage opportunities."

This flagship event, co-organized by the policy planning teams of NATO and Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, convened policy planners from across the Alliance. The meeting also included participants from NATO's partner Ukraine as well as its partners from the Indo-Pacific (Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea) and the European External Action Service.
