Shellharbour Sustainability Rebates Reminder

Ahead of the International Day of Clean Energy on 26 January, Shellharbour City Council is reminding residents of several sustainability rebates available to households transitioning to cleaner energy options.

Over 10,800 homes, approximately one third of homes in the Shellharbour Local Government Area (LGA) have installed solar, helping our community work towards our goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

The Sustainability Rebates Program will help residents achieve this target with home electrification, powered by renewable energy, leading to more energy efficient, cost-effective and healthier homes.

"It's important that we provide the community with opportunities to switch to cleaner, cheaper and more efficient energy solutions for the betterment of our future," Mayor Chris Homer said.

Eligible applicants can apply for multiple rebates on one or more specific products as part of Council's Sustainability Rebates Program.

These rebates can help reduce the cost of installing roof-top solar, heat-pump hot water systems, induction cooktops, electric vehicle chargers and home batteries.

The United Nations General Assembly designated 26 January as the annual International Day of Clean Energy to raise awareness, inspire action and promote the adoption of clean energy solutions.

Renewable energy from sunlight, wind and water is the most cost effective and sustainable energy source because it produces no emissions and is generated from endless or quickly replenishing natural resources.

Shellharbour LGA residents can access SunSPOT solar for free, funded by the NSW Government.

SunSPOT provides independent advice on solar and battery capacity, optimal system size, positioning for maximum savings and payback estimates.
