The nomination process reflects the work that Council, through the Visitor Economy team and the destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley have undertaken in the 23/24 financial year to support tourism businesses in the region, including in-person support for visitors, industry support and development, and marketing campaign opportunities.
Council's Director Sustainable Development, Geraldine Christou, highlighted the excellent work behind achieving finalist status.
"These awards are a wonderful opportunity to showcase the fantastic work delivered by Council in support of our region's visitor economy. Our dedicated staff are constantly looking for opportunities to support and raise the profile of Shepparton & Goulburn Valley as a tourist destination to the rest of Victoria and to our own community," she said.
"The Victorian Tourism Awards encourage businesses and organisations in the tourism industry to meet and exceed industry standards and play an integral role in acknowledging business excellence, innovation, professionalism and collaboration."
Gold, Silver and Bronze recipients of the awards will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Palladium at Crown, on Thursday 21 November. Gold winners (excluding local government category) will progress through to the National Tourism Awards.
