Ever wondered how Greater Shepparton's parks, gardens, and roadsides stay so well-maintained and inviting all year round? It's all thanks to the dedication and hard work of our Parks, Sport, and Recreation team!
In the video below, we take you behind the scenes to see the fantastic efforts that go into keeping our green spaces looking their best for the community.
Here's a closer look at what the team does:
- Massive Coverage: The team maintains an impressive 611 hectares of grass (about 305 Deakin Reserves!) and 37 hectares of garden beds, ensuring every space is neat, safe and welcoming.
- Tailored Maintenance: Different parks have different needs. High-traffic areas like Queens Gardens are tended to weekly, while smaller neighbourhood parks are maintained once a month to stay functional and tidy.
- Roadside Mowing: Keeping roadsides clear and safe is a big task. The team uses traffic management to protect drivers and staff while tackling median strips and outer separators along busy roads.
- Highway Challenges: Timing roadside mowing along highways isn't easy—these roads are busy all day! The team works hard to get the job done efficiently while ensuring minimal disruption.
The Parks, Sport, and Recreation team takes pride in their work, creating beautiful spaces for residents and visitors alike. Whether you're strolling through a local park or driving past well-kept roadsides, their efforts are a big part of what makes Greater Shepparton a wonderful place to live.
