Australia Post is urging customers to get their Christmas gifts in the mail, with just one week left to meet its last sending date deadlines.
For sending to and from most destinations within Australia via Parcel Post, gifts should be sent by Friday 20 December to arrive by Christmas day. Last minute shoppers can buy a few extra days if sending by Express Post, with gifts to be posted by Monday 23 December. People sending to or from Western Australia and the Northern Territory, and outside a metro area should allow additional time.
Christmas letters and cards should be in the mail by Friday 13 December for sending interstate and Monday 16 December for same state.
Australia Post Executive General Manager Parcel, Post and eCommerce Services, Gary Starr, said Australia Post is confident it will meet the high demand this Christmas season, following the success of last year's operations, which saw the delivery of nearly 100 million parcels.
"We're committed to ensuring that every parcel sent by these dates arrives on time for Christmas. With expanded services including weekend deliveries, the addition of two new freighters to our network, thousands of seasonal hires, and key upgrades to boost our processing and delivery capacity, we're more prepared than ever for the busy final weeks of the holiday rush. Our team is ready to deliver for our customers right up until Christmas," Mr Starr said.
The Australia Post app is the best way to keep up to date with deliveries, receive trusted and accurate delivery updates and learn about any impacts to the network during this busy time. The app also allows customers to select the most suitable collection point, such as Australia Post's free 24/7 Parcel Lockers located at more than 690 sites around Australia.
