Shire Brings Services Closer To Community

The Shire has announced plans to make it even easier for residents and ratepayers to connect with services and access customer support.

From the end of the month, localised hubs to be known as "Your Local Connection Points" will be progressively established in smaller townships, complementing the main offices at Rosebud, Hastings, and Mornington.

At these Connection Points, dedicated staff will be available to assist with a wide range of customer needs, offering services like those provided at current Shire offices. This includes assisting with general enquiries, providing service advice, assisting with forms and processing EFTPOS payments.

Additionally, there are plans for self-serve kiosks and small meeting spaces at some locations to support community consultations and discussions with staff on local matters.

To ensure convenient access, the Shire will tailor operating days and hours at the different locations, ranging from a one- to five-day-a-week presence. The initial rollout will include up to four townships: Sorrento, Dromana, Somerville, and Red Hill.

The Shire will actively seek feedback during a trial period to better understand community needs and preferences, allowing the input to shape the future of your Local Connection Points.

Stay tuned! Further updates, including the confirmation of locations and ways to get involved, will be announced soon.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Simon Brooks

"This initiative is about making it more convenient to connect with the Shire, even in the further reaches of the Peninsula, and serve our community better.

"Our community will be able to visit us and enjoy the convenience of dealing directly with staff on a range of matters including our most popular transactions like animal registrations, rate enquiries and applying for a permit.

"We also want to know if we're meeting the needs of our community and to better understand the preferred ways to engage with us, so we'll be asking for feedback to help guide improvements."
