The Shire has performed strongly in the annual local government community satisfaction survey. Overall satisfaction jumped 15% from the previous year to 6.5. A pleasing result that is 6% higher than the long-term average (2014 – 2024).
High levels of satisfaction were recorded for library, waste, recreation, community, seniors, youth and children's services. Areas with lower levels of satisfaction included roads (sealed and unsealed), footpaths, drains and public toilets.
Respondents cited the beach and foreshore, quietness and peacefulness and the natural environment and bushland as what they value most about living on the Peninsula.
With both metropolitan and rural characteristics, the Shire recorded an overall satisfaction result (6.5) that is close to the metropolitan average of 7 and well above the regional average of 5.2.
The Shire commissioned Metropolis Research to undertake the 2023/24 survey. Interviews were conducted every quarter resulting in a combined annual survey of 1,604 residents. This approach has achieved a significantly larger sample size than previous years and a richer data set that reflects the broader Peninsula community.
