Shooting At Logan

Police are investigating a shooting incident in Logan this evening, October 18.

At approximately 6.40pm, POLAIR and police began tracking a stolen Suzuki Vitara in the Browns Plains area.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, and the stolen vehicle later came to a stop near Browns Plains Road.

Around 7.50pm, police approached the stolen vehicle, and the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle fired a shot towards police.

A pursuit was commenced.

During the pursuit, the driver of the stolen vehicle fired further shots at police.

No one was injured.

The Suzuki Vitara was located abandoned near Central Court, Hillcrest, around 8.20pm and the driver fled into a waiting stolen Kia Cerato.

POLAIR tracked the stolen Kia Cerato to an address in Bix Court, Crestmead, around 8.40pm, where police negotiators remain on scene.

Police declared an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) which remains in place.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
