Shooting, two in custody in Bexley

Two men are in in custody following a public place shooting in Bexley, NSW Police say.

Just after 11pm (Thursday 17 May 2018) police were called to the intersection of Abercorn and Medway Streets, Bexley, after reports of shots fired.

Police attended and located two casings nearby. No injuries or damage to property was reported.

Officers searched the area and located two men nearby in Yeo Lane.

The men were arrested and a Toyota Hilux belonging to one of the men was located nearby and searched, with police allegedly locating a large amount of cash in the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized by police.

The firearm used in the shooting has not been located.

The two men, aged 36 and 32, were taken Kogarah Police Station, where inquiries continue.

A crime scene is in place being examined by forensic specialists.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
