Short Film Contest Highlights Seniors' Stories

  • Winners of the Life in Pictures short film competition announced
  • Three filmmakers honoured for their compelling depictions of ageing

Three short films with compelling depictions of ageing have been named winners of the 2024 Life in Pictures short film competition.

The winners were announced at a presentation screening at Luna Leederville this evening, as part of the 2024 Revelation Perth International Film Festival closing event.

Alex Lippiatt was honoured in the under 17 years category forLend a Hand,which tells the story of three generations of one family who cook together at the Vincent Community Kitchen.

Andrea Seno took out the 18-59 years category withMerilyn, a film about budding actress Merilyn, 73, who recently started her acting career in the Western Australian film industry.

Tanya Swift won the 60-plus age category with her filmElderhood, which takes a positive outlook on the ageing process.

The Life in Pictures competition encourages people to reflect on society's views of growing older and is a creative collaboration between the Department of Communities and Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

Winners received prizes of $500 cash, a $100 Camera Electronic voucher and two 2025 REV Festival 2025 Gold Passes valued at $500. The films are now available to view at https://www.revelationfilmfest.org/lifeinpictures/
