The North Rockhampton Library is set to undergo an upgrade next month, when the building is fitted with a brand-new roof.

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said the library will be closed for just over two weeks during May to allow works to be carried out.

"Preparation works will kick off in the first week of May, with the library then closing from 6 to 23 May," Cr Wickerson said.

"The library will reopen to the public on Tuesday 24 May at 9.00am.

"We apologise for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause, but the works are essential to ensure the safety and longevity of the building.

"The return chute will be closed during the shutdown however items can be returned to other Rockhampton Regional Libraries.

"We appreciate the public's patience during this time and encourage the community to continue accessing the library resources either online or by visiting one of the other branches.

"Opening hours for Gracemere, Mount Morgan and South Rockhampton libraries are listed on Council's website.

"If you have any questions, please speak to staff at the library prior to the closure."
