King's College London is delighted to announce that Siddharth Khajuria is joining the university in the role of Director, Science Gallery London
Siddharth currently leads public programming work at the Barbican. He developed a new public programme for the arts centre and, with his team, has been responsible for co-creating and commissioning an ongoing series of events, exhibitions and residences which spark and convene conversations about urgent social and cultural questions. He is also the co-founder of Grand Plan, a charity which awards grants to artists and creative people of colour to realise cultural projects.
Prior to his current role, Siddharth co-led the Barbican Incubator (a hybrid programming and strategy team) and was central to developing and implementing the organisation's first five-year strategic plan. He also used to be a producer at the BBC, where he worked in a number of different roles across TV, radio and online.
Siddharth will take up his role mid-January 2022 in preparation for a phased reopening of Science Gallery London from late May 2022.
As part of King's Culture, Siddharth will deliver a new vision for Science Gallery London as King's interdisciplinary hub for discovery in art, health and science that will be:
- A hub for discovery, learning, exchange and equality; bringing together creative practice, lived experience and academic research for social impact;
- A live lab for experimentation, co-creation and making;
- A gallery that explores 21st century concerns through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
I feel privileged and excited to be joining King's and Science Gallery London in the new year. More than ever, it feels like we're in need of institutional spaces that can be a harbour for inventive, inclusive, useful projects that help us make sense of the world. Science Gallery London is one of these spaces - and it can be a place for people who share interests but approach them from different perspectives to come together and collectively explore some of the questions which are shaping our lives. I can't wait to join the team!– Siddharth Khajuria, incoming Director Science Gallery London, King's College London
I am thrilled to welcome Siddharth to King's as we prepare to reopen Science Gallery London in 2022. Siddharth's creative, intelligent and inclusive approach to exploring big societal and scientific questions, engaging new and unexpected audiences and collaborators, is exactly what we need in the next phase of Science Gallery London. He has a real understanding of the renewed role that Science Gallery and King's can play in our local communities and in wider society and I look forward to working with him.– Beatrice Pembroke, Executive Director Culture, King's College London
