In an unprecedented event, Australia's biggest-ever individual lottery winner has been crowned as a single ticket snared the entire $150 million jackpot in Powerball draw 1462.
According to the division calculations, the historic winning ticket was sold in South Australia.
The winning numbers drawn on Thursday were 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28, and 6, with a Powerball of 11. The identity of the winner remains anonymous at this time, allowing them time to celebrate this life-changing windfall privately.
The jackpot had been steadily growing over the past six weeks after no winners emerged in previous draws. This anticipation fueled a surge in ticket sales with up to half of Australian adults were expected to have an entry into this draw with many hoping to tick some amazing aspirations off their bucket list.
This historic win, which coincidentally fell on the game’s 28th year anniversary today, threw to the South Australian resident the entire $150 million Division One prize pool, making it the biggest individual lottery win in Australian history. Before this, an inner-Sydney mum in her 40s held the title for the biggest individual lottery winner in Australia after scoring a phenomenal $107 million in 2019.
While the top prize went to a lone punter, over 3 million tickets secured prizes across various divisions, sharing a consolation pool exceeding $239 million.
