Monash Council is calling nominations for people doing inspirational things to benefit the Monash community for our annual Sir John Monash Awards.
Monash Mayor Paul Klisaris said, "Since the Sir John Monash Awards started in 2014, we have had the pleasure of recognising over 500 people and groups who go the extra mile, dedicating themselves for our community."
"The awards recognise the contributions people give to others and are aptly named after Sir John Monash. Regarded as one of Australia's greatest heroes, he was a civil engineer and volunteer soldier who rose to become a respected General in the Australian Army.
"If you know someone going above and beyond for the Monash community, please take the time to submit a nomination.
"And in the words of Sir John Monash equip yourself for life, not solely for your own benefit but for the benefit of the whole community", added Cr Klisaris.
Last year's awards recognised Leasyl Richards and Erin Bartleton from Wheelers Hill Primary School for their work as champions of the environment and embracing sustainability at school.
If you know of someone whose community spirit keeps us connected, now is the time to tell us about them. Nominations across a range of categories are open until Sunday 13 July 2025.
A celebration of award winners and their achievements will take place at the Alexander Theatre, Monash University on Monday 20 October 2025.
