Baw Baw Shire Council is going refresh six playgrounds across the Shire as part of the 2023/24 Playground Renewal Program.
More than $300,000 will be invested by Council to refurbish the six playgrounds, which are:
- Bellbird Park, Drouin
- Toy Park, Longwarry
- Noojee Riverside Playground, Noojee
- Dowton Park, Yarragon
- Apex Park, Trafalgar
- Briona Court Playground, Trafalgar
The playgrounds will be scheduled for renewal before the end of the 2023/24 financial year.
This program is funded to provide like-for-like replacement of worn equipment rather than playground re-design. However, should budget remain following required replacement work, it may be used to include new features.
This consultation opportunity will provide a chance for residents to have their say on what they would like to see at the playgrounds, should budget allow.
As part of previous programs Council has upgraded playgrounds in Drouin, Jindivick, Rawson and Warragul, plus many more.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Annemarie McCabe encouraged Baw Baw residents of all ages to share their thoughts and ideas on the upgrades.
"The Playground Renewal Program is an important part of Council's commitment to keeping our Shire safe, modern and fit for purpose for everyone," the Mayor said.
Cr McCabe added that Council wants to create opportunities for families to socialise together close to home, rather than needing to travel far.
"Refreshing our playgrounds means that there are plenty of opportunities for local families and parents to enjoy our community and its facilities," Cr McCabe said.
"I look forward to seeing our littlest citizens out and about making the most of this new play equipment very soon."
The Baw Baw community is encouraged to have their say on the above playgrounds before Monday 11 December at www.bawbawconnect.com.au/playgroundrenewal23-24
