A sixth person has been charged following the alleged fatal stabbing of a man in Newcastle late last year.
About 2.40am on Sunday 17 November 2024, emergency services were called to Beaumont Street, Hamilton, and found a 22-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds. He died in hospital a short time later.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Mannum, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
During the investigation, three men – aged 27, 35 and 43 – and a 33-year-old woman, were each charged with murder.
A fifth person, a 28-year-old woman, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and conceal serious indictable offence of other.
All five remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives stopped a vehicle on Albert Street, Lambton, about 12.55pm today (Tuesday 4 February 2025).
A 39-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where she was charged with murder – principal in the second degree.
She was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 5 February 2025).
Inquiries are ongoing under Strike Force Mannum.
