Skill Boost: Labour Intensive Construction Training in Fetakgomo

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization's Expanded Public Works Programme (ILO EPWP) Limpopo Team, the Department of Public Works Roads and Infrastructure (LDPWRI), and the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (NDPWI), is proud to announce the successful execution of a two-day technical training workshop. Held on July 18-19, 2024, at the Thaba Moshate hotel in Burgersfort, this initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing technical proficiency and ensuring that local projects are meticulously aligned with EPWP guidelines.

Workshop Overview

The technical training, requested by the Municipality, brought together a diverse group of 23 participants, including Technical Officials, EPWP Coordinators, Consultants, and Contractors. The primary focus of this workshop was to provide comprehensive training on Labour Intensive Construction (LIC) and Tender Alignment, crucial components for the effective management and execution of EPWP projects.

Objectives of the Workshop

  1. Enhancing Understanding of LIC Requirements
  2. Aligning Tender Processes with LIC Standards
  3. Facilitating Knowledge Sharing
  4. Equipping Project Managers with the latest tools and techniques for effective compliance and tender management.

The workshop is expected to greatly benefit the local municipality by providing officials and service providers with the necessary skills and knowledge to efficiently manage their EPWP projects in compliance with LIC standards and tender requirements, as well as help them achieve their annual EPWP targets".
