As the warmer weather approaches, Campaspe Shire is gearing up to welcome carloads of visitors eager to explore our summer playground. Campaspe Shire Council Director Sustainability, Michael Sharp announced that the Council will continue its annual installation of skip bins for campers' waste.
"Each year, we place skip bins in high activity areas to cater to the influx of campers in our region.
"While we are excited to welcome all visitors, the rubbish they leave behind is certainly unwelcome," said Mr Sharp.
Mr Sharp emphasised that the skips were intended solely for visitors' use and not for residential waste.
"We will closely monitor the skips for any misuse. Our contractors will regularly empty these bins, but if a skip bin is full, we ask you not to place rubbish on the ground next to the bin as this creates a hazard for people and wildlife. Instead, please take the rubbish to a Resource Recovery Centre where campers' waste will be accepted free of charge," Mr Sharp said.
The skip bins will be placed at Echuca East Boat Ramp, Victoria Park, Torrumbarry Roadhouse, and Gunbower Recreation Reserve from Christmas through the new year to accommodate the peak camping season.
Locals and visitors can also access Council's Resource Recovery Centres to dispose of various waste. Resource Recovery Centre locations and opening hours can be found on Council's website https://www.campaspe.vic.gov.au/rrc .
