Simple amendments to existing liquor licences will be made a lot easier under changes being made by the Tasmanian Government.
Minister for Hospitality and Small Business, Jane Howlett, said the Government was introducing changes that would make it easier for business growth and expansion when it comes to licensing.
"Under the current system licensees who want to relocate their business must make a new application to have that happen," Minister Howlett said.
"We are modernising the regulations and making it easier for licensees to make simple amendments like updating their location, without having to undertake the entire licensing application process from scratch.
"The changes will also allow for licences to be held by a business entity, not just an individual.
"This will also make it easier for a business to change ownership or management, subject to the fit and proper person test."
Minister Howlett said bringing liquor regulations into the 21st century meant making things simpler, faster and fairer for hospitality businesses.
"These changes are part of our Government's major overhaul of the outdated liquor licensing rules," the Minister said.
"We are backing business, creating jobs and keeping our economy strong.
"Our red tape reform agenda will ensure we can continue the momentum of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future and keep growing our economy."
