Kiama Council is proud to support NSW Small Business Month this October.

There's a jam-packed calendar of events across the state, which you can find here:

The Kiama & District Business Chamber plays a vital role in connecting local businesses. We encourage all local business owners to join the Chamber as members, and to attend their networking and training events:

Our Destination Kiama team also hosts regular Tourism After Hours functions in different venues throughout the LGA.

These regular networking events are just one of the benefits of joining the more than 200 local businesses as members of the Destination Kiama Partnership Program.

Other benefits include being represented in national marketing campaigns and online via kiama.com.au, as well as the promotional support provided by our Visitor Information Centre, which serves between 3,000 and 6,000 visitors each month:

Kiama Council is also sponsoring the Excellence in Micro Business Award at the IMB Illawarra Business Awards on 13 September 2024.

We have a number of local businesses and individuals nominated for these awards, which are hosted by Business Illawarra, a tremendous advocate for business in our region.

Council also recognises the challenges of running a small business, especially given the significant challenges of recent years.

So, we also encourage business owners to use the Ahead for Business portal, which hosts free training for small businesses to create mentally healthy workplaces:

Supporting and celebrating Small Business Month is just one way Kiama Council is helping create a strong and diverse economy, a key pillar of the Kiama Community Strategic Plan.
