More than 1000 Queensland small businesses will receive grants of $5000 to get their 'business basics' on track by investing in areas such as website development, marketing plans or business coaching.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Di Farmer said the $5000 injection to each business adds up to a $5 million investment into small businesses and the communities they serve right across Queensland.
"Investing in these businesses will help improve and grow their operations and allow them to serve more customers and clients," Minister Farmer said.
"With studios across Brisbane, Wee Make Music director Louise Carlile, tells me the grant will help her tune up her business skills."
Louise Carlile started Wee Make Music in 2005 while she was on maternity leave from high school teaching and has now grown the business to offer 55 parent participation style classes each week for infants, toddlers, and young children.
"Thanks to the Business Basics grant I am looking to pursue my next objectives for the business, which are to trial some alternate online marketing strategies and to develop the daycare program, specifically online training modules for day care educators and to promote this throughout Brisbane and Logan areas," Ms Carlile said.
"I am very passionate about the value of music in the early developing years and decided I wanted to build a business that gave me flexibility to prioritise being a mother but also provide a service in the community and challenge me personally."
Minister Farmer said the grants support small business owners in a range of industries and in every corner of the state.
"From Fox Mowing Jindalee to Coastal Rotors, which runs helicopter charters in Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait Islands," Minister Farmer said.
"There are also tradies, medical and community support services, tourism and hospitality businesses who are amongst the 1009 businesses to get this support.
"When we invest in small businesses, we invest in Queensland because their success and growth fuels the economy and gives us great options as customers to invest in our local communities.
"This year's Budget committed $39.1 million over the next four years for grants and other support to help new, growing and established businesses reach their goals and keep improving.
"Since 2020, nearly 60,000 Queensland business have been supported by grants totalling almost $530 million, which is part of the $2.5 billion in small business support the Palaszczuk Government has invested to fuel the state economic recovery.
"This includes over $500 million in COVID-19 economic support to 55,000 businesses in 2020 and 2021 and more than $20 million in Big Plans for Small Business grants".
