Kiama Council is offering funding opportunities for small community events.
The new Small Community Event Grants program provides between $250 and $2,000 to local individuals, groups or organisations for events that benefit our community.
Mayor Neil Reilly said the purpose was to support events that contributed to Council's goal of a socially just and inclusive community.
"Council receives numerous requests for donations throughout the year from local organisations for community events such as garden competitions, art workshops, charity concerts, street parades and bushfire fundraisers," Cr Reilly said.
"These were traditionally considered by Council as they arise on an ad hoc basis."
"The Small Community Events Grants provides an improved way to support such important events, based on established criteria, in an open and transparent way."
Cr Reilly said rather than the ad hoc consideration of applications, the new grants program would offer two funding rounds each year, in April and November.
Each funding round would provide a total of $8,000 in grants, between $250 and $2,000 each.
To be eligible for this funding, an individual, group or organisation must meet an established set of requirements, including:
- Be based within the Municipality of Kiama
- Be incorporated or auspiced by an incorporated organisation
- Be not-for-profit
- Demonstrate how the event will benefit the Municipality
Applications can now be made for first funding round, which closes at midnight 24 November 2023.
