The McGowan Government today announced that $315,581 has been awarded to 78 schools across the State to increase the health and wellbeing of students.
Funding of up to $5,000 was available to schools through Healthway's Healthy Schools Program to help them develop projects that promote the health of their students within their school community.
The successful schools will use the funding to implement health projects such as creating sensory spaces to help students' self-regulate, cultivating edible gardens, establishing good physical activity practices, and holding education sessions on healthy eating.
These projects will help increase healthy eating and physical activity and improve mental health of students including Aboriginal children and young people, those from regional and remote locations, and others experiencing disadvantage.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"Congratulations to the 78 schools across our State who successfully received Healthway funding for their health project.
"These small grants will contribute to exciting health projects that will support the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of students.
"A healthy school community means that students are more likely to develop healthy habits, which will have a positive long-term impact on their lives."
