Police have issued an SMS geo-targeting alert and are re-appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from the state's Central Tablelands.
Chaise Thompson, aged 25, was last seen leaving a hotel on Gilmour Street, Kelso, about 12.30am on Wednesday (23 June 2021).
Family reported him missing to officers from Chifley Police District the following day (Thursday 24 June 2021), who have since been conducting inquiries into his whereabouts.
Concerns continue to be held for Chaise's welfare as his movements after this remain unknown and he has not been seen or heard from since.
Chaise is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170-180cm tall, of a medium build, with fair skin, red hair and blue eyes.
It's believed he may be driving a white Mazda utility, with NSW registration YIQ-10Z.
Police believe the vehicle was last seen turning right into Illumba Way at Kelso, off Marsden Lane, shortly after 12.30am. Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at this time is urged to contact local police.
As inquiries continue, police have issued a geo-targeted SMS to the Bathurst and surrounding area seeking assistance to locate the man.
Chifley Police District Commander, Acting Superintendent Bruce Grassick, reassured the community that the geo-targeted SMS is a new resource utilised by emergency services to contact the community.
"The community can be confident that any text messages you receive from that number, which is 0444 444 444, does come from emergency services," he said.
"This new technology allows us to reach up to half-a-million people in a defined area, and in these circumstances where a missing person – who's wellbeing is considered to be at risk – was last seen.
"It's vital that the public acknowledges these text messages and communicates any information they may have with the Bathurst Police Station on 6332 8699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
Police are now urging anyone who may have seen him, to call Bathurst Police on (02) 6332 8699 or Crime Stoppers.
Anyone with information about this incident – including dashcam and CCTV footage – is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
