Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

A digital render has been released showing how new facilities at Lauderdale Primary School might look once the $6.5 million upgrade is completed.

The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering on its 2021 election commitment to upgrade Lauderdale Primary School.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the upgrade will deliver new contemporary learning spaces and amenities, and replace outdated outdoor play areas.

"We know the physical learning environment has an impact on student access, engagement and participation in learning, and that is why we are giving our young people the education facilities they need," Minister Jaensch said.

"The new facilities at Lauderdale Primary School will better support our students, staff and school community."

It is expected the tender for the building contractor will be released in the coming months, with works expected to be completed in late 2024, subject to the outcome of the tender process."

Liberal Member for Franklin, Dean Young, said the $6.5 million upgrade of Lauderdale Primary School is part of our Government's $255 million commitment in the 2023-24 State Budget for new and upgraded education infrastructure.

"We are delivering for Tasmanian teachers, students and families by providing the best possible facilities for our learners," Mr Young said.

"Other major projects being delivered in the south include the $15.1 million redevelopment of Cambridge Primary School, the $20 million redevelopment of Hobart City High School and the $20 million revitalisation of Cosgrove High School."
