Snowy Monaro NSW Citizen Of Year Nominations Open

Community-run Australia Day committees across the Snowy Monaro are hard at work preparing for the 2025 celebration of the nation, with nominations for our region's NSW Local Citizen of the Year awards now open until Friday 10 January 2025.

The Snowy Monaro community are invited to nominate a local legend in the Bombala, Cooma, or Jindabyne areas who has made a substantial contribution to our region and its people over the past 12 months.

Nomination forms are available online now at https://qrco.de/SMRCawards or in-person from all Council offices. Completed forms can be submitted by email, post, or over-the-counter at your local Council office.

For 2025, our Bombala, Cooma, and Jindabyne Australia Day committees are accepting nominations across seven awards categories:

Adult nominee categories

Recipients must be at least 19 years old on 26 January 2025

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year

Youth nominee categories

Recipients must be 18 years old or younger on 26 January 2025

  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year

Other categories

  • Environmental Award – open to groups and individuals of all ages
  • Young Environmental Citizen of the Year – open to school-aged children
  • Special Achievement of the Year – multiple achievement areas, open to all ages

    • Arts & Culture
    • Emergency Services
    • Business
    • Education
    • Other
