Benalla Rural City Council is excited to announce that the Social Connection Grants, funded through the Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) are now open for applications.
These grants aim to support local community groups and other organisations in holding events and activities that foster opportunities for connection and inclusion, enhancing social connections which can provide much-needed support and create positive experiences within the community.
Mayor, Cr Danny Claridge emphasised the importance of these grants to bring our community together.
"Our community thrives when we come together. The Social Connection Grants are a fantastic opportunity for local groups to create events that not only bring people together but also strengthen our sense of community."
Community groups and not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for funding of up to $1,500. This funding, made possible through the Victorian Government Department of Health, supports a variety of initiatives.
"We encourage all eligible groups to apply. These grants are designed to help our community groups create meaningful and impactful events. Whether it's a workshop or a community gathering, we want to support your vision for a more connected Benalla."
Cr. Claridge also highlights the collaborative nature of the Social Inclusion Action Group, a community-led initiative facilitated by Benalla Rural City Council.
"SIAG plays a crucial role in ensuring that our community's voice is heard and that local solutions are developed to support social connection and inclusion. The funding we receive from the Victorian Government enables us to continue this vital work," Cr Claridge said.
Community group representatives are encouraged to attend an information pop-in session being held at the Benalla Library.
