COVID Cases in SA
There have been 1,618 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 15,870 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 80s and a man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 111 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU, and two people requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 61 people are fully vaccinated, 20 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 30 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 10,028 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 36.6% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,057 PCR tests were positive, while 561 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 94.6% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 91.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 68.1% of eligible South Australians and 56.1% of South Australians aged 16+.
