The Yorke Peninsula and Copper Coast Prostate Cancer Support Groups are teaming up to turn their region blue this September at the Yorke Peninsula Field Days!
With PCFA being named Charity of Choice for the September 26-28 event, the group saw it as a golden opportunity to increase prostate cancer awareness and get the message of early detection out to the 20,000 visitors expected to attend.
The groups recently met with PCFA in Moonta to discuss plans and preparations for the event and are looking forward putting these into action.
From organising guest speakers, awareness opportunities and fundraising raffles - there is no stopping this group!
"With prostate cancer now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the country, and men from regional Australia facing a 24% higher risk of death from the disease, sharing knowledge within rural communities about prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment options and available support is vital," said Robert Kidd, Group Leader of Yorke Peninsula PCSG.
"We are excited to join forces with PCFA in an effort to raise awareness and funds at the Yorke Peninsula Field Days."
Both groups are committed to giving back to help ensure more men diagnosed have access to the latest support and treatment options.
The Yorke Peninsula PCSG group recently donated $3500 for prostate cancer research as part of the Perfect Match campaign. The Copper Coast PCSG also donated $2500 campaign during Men's Health Week.
We give our thanks to everyone involved in the Yorke Peninsula and Copper Coast Group for their ongoing work across the region to drive education and awareness.
