South East Queenslanders can get a French fix and watch all our Aussie athletes in action at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games at South Bank following today's announcement that it is the home of Brisbane's Olympic and Paralympic LIVE Site. Imagery from the official announcement available from 10am on request.

Brisbane's premier riverside precinct will deliver a free, fully inclusive, open air activation from 27 July to 12 August (Olympics) and 29 August to 9 September (Paralympics) in the Cultural Forecourt (in front of QPAC, near the BRISBANE sign). This follows the news that South Bank is turning French for three months from July 1 to September 30.

Proudly presented in partnership with the Queensland Government, the site will feature a big screen running live the broadcast and replays from Channel 9. There will also be event activations including community sporting demonstrations and challenges, entertainment and food trucks to enhance the experience and provide a home for fans to watch the Games in a fun environment.

The newly erected four-storey tall Paris Tower, a tribute to the Eiffel Tower, will provide a centrepiece and sparkling backdrop to the celebrations. The tower will flash gold, silver and bronze to coincide with Australian athletes winning medals at the Games.

The big screen will feature the telecast from 6 am to 12 midnight throughout both Games, with activations running from 4pm til 7 pm on Friday evenings and 11 am to 7 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Hon. Grace Grace MP, Minister for State Development and Infrastructure, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing said, "We're about to get a taste of Games fever as we count down to our own Olympics and Paralympics eight years from now. Our first LIVE site will activate at South Bank on 26 July for the Paris Games Opening Ceremony," she said.

"All through Paris 2024, Queenslanders will be sharing the special excitement that goes with being a future Games host."

Australian Olympic Committee Chief Executive Officer Matt Carroll AM said, "The AOC is very pleased to partner with the Queensland Government to have official Olympics and Paralympics LIVE sites across Queensland. These sites will bring Queenslanders together united in support of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams in Paris broadcast live and free on Nine at the Live sites. " Mr Carroll said.

"Sport has the power to inspire our youth to be the best they can be, and open opportunity as we head to our home Games, Brisbane 2032."

Paralympics Australia Interim CEO Cameron Murray congratulated the Queensland Government on its commitment to supporting Olympics and Paralympics LIVE at South Bank and across regional QLD.

"The Australian Paralympic Team has strong representation from across the State and having these events provide will be a great chance for communities to come together and watch their Paralympic heroes. With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, I have no doubt we'll have children in the crowd who will go on to represent Queensland and Australia at the Paralympic Games in the future," he said.

The Live Site announcement adds to the excitement of South Bank being the home of red, white and bleu, giant croissants, baguettes, French martinis, cancan dancers, French-inspired picnics, mime artists, opera singers over the next three months – creating Brisbane's own French Quarter! South Bank's leading cafes and restaurants are joining the Olympics spirit with French themed dishes and rinks now available.
