Goulburn Mulwaree Council advises that its Contractor will commence construction of the South Goulburn Shared Path and Auburn Street Wombat Crossing, on 10 March 2025.
These works are an important upgrade for Goulburn's shared pathway network to enhance pedestrian and cycling safety.
The program of works is as follows:
- Auburn Street Wombat Crossing, at the corner of Auburn and Addison Streets, to commence on 10 March 2025.
- Preliminary works, including implementation of traffic control to commence on 10 March 2025.
- Physical construction works to commence on 11 March 2025.
- This section is expected to take up to 6 weeks to complete, weather permitting
- Walker Street Crossing – to commence at the completion of the Auburn Street Wombat crossing.
- this will be completed in two sections to ensure access is maintained into the Eastern end of Walker Street.
- These works are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
- Auburn Street Path - works to commence midway through the construction of the Walker Street Crossing (in approximately 7 weeks' time, weather permitting).
- This section will take approximately 4 weeks, followed by landscape restoration works.
- At the completion of the Auburn Street path program, works will commence in Mundy Street through to the crossing in Sloane Street.
- It is expected that this will be completed by the end of May 2025.
Traffic diversions will be in place. Auburn Street will be closed to all traffic between Addison Street and Australia Street.
Access will be maintained for local residents.
Access to South Goulburn School via Addison Street will remain.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on the school side of Auburn Street during works.
Signage will be in place to divert pedestrians around work zones.
