South West Incident - Charges

Bunbury Police, with the assistance from Donnybrook Police, have charged a 25-year-old man in relation to an incident that occurred in Donnybrook on Wednesday 26 February 2025.

It will be alleged between 8.30am and 8.55am, the accused travelled recklessly in a blue Holden Cruze sedan by driving at excessive speeds, through red traffic control lights and on the incorrect side of the road - throughout areas surrounding Carey Park, Boyanup and Donnybrook.

The alleged reckless manner of driving put the safety of a large number of other road users and pedestrians in these areas at risk.

During the incident, it will be alleged the 25-year-old collided with and damaged two parked vehicles on South West Highway in Donnybrook.

About 8.55am, the accused struck a power pole and a building on South West Highway in Donnybrook.

He exited his vehicle armed with a knife and damaged a stationary vehicle by jumping on it.

Members of the public in the vicinity assisted in corralling the accused until police attended and apprehended him.

A 25-year-old man from Usher (South of Bunbury) has been charged with:

• 1 x Endanger Life, Health or Safety of a Person

• 1 x Reckless Driving

• 1 x Being Armed in a way that may Cause Fear

• 5 x Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property

He appeared in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today, 27 February 2025. He is next due to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday 27 March 2025.
