Southern Cross University has welcomed delegations from two Chinese universities as the University celebrates more than two decades of education collaborations.

Visitors from Dalian University and Changchun Normal University were welcomed to the Northern Rivers campus by Vice-Chancellor Professor Tyrone Carlin, where they were presented with a gift to commemorate more than 20 years of partnerships with Southern Cross University.

The articulations enable Chinese students to complete the first two to three years of their degree in China, then undertake their final year/s of study in Australia at Southern Cross University.

Executive Director of Southern Cross Global, Damon Ferris, said it was a privilege to host the delegations and further strengthen ties between Southern Cross University and its partner institutions.

"It's about collaboration and partnership. Both Southern Cross University and the Chinese sides work globally with universities to increase reputation, quality, globalisation and shared cultural experiences," Mr Ferris said.

"The world of international education is changing faster than ever before. Further developing these relationships is an important part of our plans to set Southern Cross up as a major international institution," he said.

"We plan to further build on these relationships through research collaborations, additional courses, opportunities for domestic students to study abroad and to expand our global presence and reputation."

Southern Cross University commenced its partnership with Dalian University in 2003. Through the partnership, students are able to study Southern Cross Business and Tourism units.

A partnership with Changchun Normal University was signed in 2004 offering Southern Cross Tourism and Information Technology units. The partnership aims to provide students from China with international experience and opportunities to improve their English proficiency.

Southern Cross University introduced two non-award English Language Units in 2023 and 2024 which enable students from Dalian University and Changchun Normal University to enhance their business and international communication skills.
