Southern NSW Local Health District's (SNSWLHD) dedicated staff have today been recognised at the annual Excellence Awards, held at the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre.

The Awards recognise staff who demonstrate outstanding commitment to safety, innovation, sustainability, workplace culture and patient experience. This year new award categories were introduced, recognising achievements in multicultural healthcare and commitment to service.

SNSWLHD Chief Executive Margaret Bennett said awards were presented to more than 100 individuals and teams across 21 categories.

"More than 270 nominations were submitted from across a variety of health facilities, work areas and specialties, making the 2024 Excellence Awards more representative of our Southern workforce than ever before," Ms Bennett said.

"So much good work happens behind the scenes in health service delivery. Our Excellence Awards shine a spotlight on the people who go above and beyond every day, serving the community with passion, skill and kindness.

"The high standard and diversity of nominees and award winners showcase our District's commitment to providing excellence in care across all services and locations.

"I want to extend my congratulations to the nominees and award winners, but I also want to thank all of our dedicated staff members for their commitment to providing high quality, compassionate care to their communities."

Ms Bennett presented the Chief Executive Award to the Medical Workforce Unit and Surgical Service Improvement program. SNSWLHD Board Chair Elizabeth Hoskins presented the prestigious Board Chair Award to the Voluntary Assisted Dying Service team.

The Dr Allan Hawke AC Outstanding Leadership Award, honouring the legacy of SNSWLHD's late Board Chair, was awarded to District Maternity Manager Rebekah Bowman.
