Southwark Council's Grading Under Review

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has today (Friday 19 July) placed Southwark Council on its gradings under review list.

The regulator is currently investigating, through a planned inspection, matters which may indicate serious failings in the landlord delivering the outcomes of the Safety and Quality Standard. This follows a self-referral and public statements made by the landlord.

Southwark Council is a local authority, and does not currently have a consumer standards grade.

Notes

  1. On 1 April 2024 RSH expanded its system of grades to include consumer grades, alongside its existing governance and viability grades.
  2. If RSH is investigating a landlord due to suspected serious failings, whether through responsive engagement or a planned inspection, we may place them on the gradings under review list. This is likely to be where our engagement is ongoing and we think it is appropriate to alert stakeholders to the fact that we have serious concerns about that landlord's delivery of the standards outcomes, which we are investigating.
