Spain Ratifies Macolin Convention

Juan Ignacio MORRO, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Spain to the Council of Europe, has deposited, this 17 October 2024, before the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn BERGE, the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (CETS No. 215), also known as the Macolin Convention.

Spain thus becomes the 12th State Party to the Macolin Convention. The Macolin Convention shall enter into force in respect of Spain on 1 February 2025.

This 12th ratification marks a turning point in the recognition of this unique international instrument to combat the manipulation of sports competitions, including among European Union member states.
