Spectators Assault Player At Mill Park Soccer Match

Police are investigating an assault at a sporting match at a reserve on Crampton Crescent in Mill Park on 6 July.

Investigators have been told there was a small on field scuffle between two opposing soccer players around 2.30pm, with one player being sent off.

As the 33-year-old St Kilda man was leaving the field he was assaulted by multiple spectators, leaving him with serious injuries including a fractured spine.

Investigators have released footage of the assault involving the unidentified spectators in the hope that those involved can be identified.

Detectives wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, as well as anyone who was a spectator at the match.
