Speeding And Drink Driving Charges At Gold Coast

A man has been charged with multiple traffic offences, after he was allegedly caught speeding and driving under the influence in Pimpama on Saturday, July 13.

Police intercepted a Nissan Maxima that was travelling southbound on the Pacific Motorway around 2am, after the vehicle was allegedly clocked driving 159km/h in a 110km/h zone.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, was subject to a subsequent breath test, which returned a BAC result of 0.229%.

The man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without a licence and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on August 8.

He has also been issued an infringement notice worth $1,854 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h.

Motorists are reminded that there are no excuses when it comes to road safety and officers will be out and about making sure that the road rules are abided by.
