State Highway Patrol (North) have stopped a speeding driver in Bungaree this morning as part of Operation Argus.
Police checked the Holden Commodore sedan travelling at 151km/h in a 110km/h section of the Western Freeway about 10.48 today.
The 21-year-old probationary driver from Smythesdale had his car impounded at a cost of $1255.
He will be summoned to a Magistrates' court at a later date.
The intercept was part of Operation Argus, which focuses on impaired driving, motorcycles, excessive speed, driver distraction and not wearing seatbelts.
The state-wide operation will run for four days from 12.01am on Thursday 5 September to 11.59pm on Sunday 8 September.
