Filters often get confused by backgrounds, but this spectacularly creepy post could be more than mere tech malfunction
The 'dog face' filter on Snapchat has long been a source of fun for smartphone users, but this creepy post might make you think twice before you use it again.
Twitter user @espinoziee - real name Erin - has shared her post online of what happened when she took a snap of a friend using the cute filter.
Firstly, the app identified not one, but two people in the shot - with second being some wall-mounted pictures which obviously confused the recognition software.
But the weird thing happened whenever Erin said: "Ghost, open your mouth".
Erin is stunned into silence as the wall dog's ghostly tongue extends.
With more than 10,480 retweets since she posted it, Erin's unintentionally become a viral hit.
"Why does this have so many RTs," she posted, and a fan replied: "Because it's one of the funniest things I've seen on twitter lmao."
Another commenter added: "No wonder Snapchat's emoji is a ghost."
