Sport Integrity Australia CEO David Sharpe has today announced his intention to step down from the role.
Mr Sharpe was appointed the inaugural CEO of Sport Integrity Australia in 2020 charged with overseeing the build of the new agency. Prior to this, he headed up the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority following a 30-year career in the AFP.
Mr Sharpe wanted to recognise the incredible talent within the agency who work tirelessly to help sports build a framework that ensures a fair, safe and inclusive environment for all.
"I would like to thank everyone at Sport Integrity Australia for the passion and commitment you bring to your roles each and every day," he said. "You can be proud of what we have achieved together to protect vulnerable people in sport, none more notable than building and implementing a National Integrity Framework for all sport in Australia."
He said sport in Australia had come a long way in these four years.
"Mr Sharpe recognised the key role of sporting administrators in Australia for their willingness to make change to protect all in sport," he said. "I have always said that in order to protect sport, we had to work together, and the National Integrity Framework is proof of that."
He said the agency's achievements would not have been possible without the partnership with all stakeholders, from athletes, to sport, law enforcement and the Federal Government.
Mr Sharpe will finish in the role on Friday 2 August 2024.
Interim CEO arrangement details will be advised in the near future.
