The Devonport Racing Club's new raceday building is three times the size of the original and features dedicated equal space for female jockeys in the new jockey room.
Minister for Racing, Jane Howlett, said she was proud to officially open the wonderful new Spreyton Raceday Amenities Building.
"This opening is the result of significant stakeholder engagement between the Club, owners, trainers, jockeys, the media and Tasracing," Minister Howlett said.
"All parties were closely engaged in the design, construction and commission of this purpose-built facility.
"Our Government is working together with Tasracing and the member clubs to ensure that we are sustainably investing in important industry infrastructure like this.
Along with the jockey room, the new facility includes space for strappers, trainers and owners to review replays, a kiosk, an office, a media room, a larger committee room and a viewing platform.
Of the $2.8 million total project value, $1.5 million was provided by the Tasmanian Government, with the balance funded by Tasracing with cash reserves.
"This investment, and our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, demonstrates our support for this vibrant and valuable industry which generates more than $208 million in economic activity annually and involves more than 6400 people across the State," Minister Howlett said.
