Tokyo Tech's Graduation Ceremonies for academic year 2021 were held on March 28, 2022 at Ookayama Campus. Bachelor's degree recipients were acknowledged in the morning, while master's and doctoral graduates were honored in two separate events in the afternoon.
This spring, Tokyo Tech conferred 178 doctoral degrees, 1,574 master's degrees, 26 professional master's degrees, and 1,089 bachelor's degrees.
Most of the graduates were able to participate in their respective ceremonies in person. Joining them at the venue were President Kazuya Masu, members of the board, deans and directors, and Tokyo Tech Alumni Association President Kiyoto Ido (Class of 1972, Department of Mathematics). Family members, friends, faculty, staff, and graduates who could not be present were able to experience the celebrations virtually via a livestream.
During his speeches, Masu praised Tokyo Tech's newest graduates for their determination, creativity, and resilience, and urged them to continue on their own unique path while sharing their knowledge with the world. "I want you to take pride in being members of Tokyo Tech's tenacious Class of 2021," the president stated.
In his brief addresses, alumnus Ido also offered his congratulations and shared with the graduates his motivating message regarding the future.
After these congratulatory messages, degrees were presented to representatives of each cohort of graduating students. At the ceremony for bachelor's degree recipients, students with outstanding academic achievements also received the 2021 Tokyo Institute of Technology Academic Excellence Award.
To conclude each ceremony, the valedictorians for each cohort offered their messages of gratitude and hope to the president, Tokyo Tech faculty members, fellow students, and the broader community.
The Tokyo Tech community wishes all the newest graduates continued health and success.
